We also believe this boycott is about much higher issues than just the survival of the Peltier Network. If it happened to us, it can happen to you. ANY organization with which PayPal takes issue can be shut down in the same manner. Whether an action taken independently by PayPal or at the request of an entity such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, or even instigated by an ndividual bearing a personal grudge, we find PayPal's policies objectionable -- more than that, intolerable. The Internet has been a great equalizer, has it not? What kind of a message is PayPal sending to social, political, and environmental activists and people of color? The Internet is for some, but not "others"?

If Paypal doesn't change its terms, conditions and customer service very soon, it's best that Paypal is closed down by the US Government or by a US Court. In our opinion Paypal hit already the iceberg and is a sinking ship right now. We strongly advise all Paypal users to empty and close their Paypal account immediately before Paypal freezes their account OR before Paypal runs out of money....

Suing PayPal
Update on the PayPal situation. On June 13th PayPal closed my account because they didn't like the material on my web sites. Yesterday I filed a small claims court case against them for $5000 - the mex you can sue for in California. Here's the details of my encounter with them and there's a recording of my phone conversation about their policies. My suit is based on the fact that I have 50000 web pages that I need to change - and that I was actually in compliance with their policies, and that 10 cents a web page is reasonable consequential demages that should be awarded to me.

Picking Your Target: Second Amendment Sisters versus PayPal
Several months ago, the story started making the RKBA rounds that the on-line payment company PayPal is anti-gun. I'm rather vehemently pro-RKBA, so I took this report seriously. Yet, I've been using PayPal for quite a while, and found it extremely useful. So I decided to do a little investigating before dumping my account. I started with a webpage that several people referenced when calling for a PayPal boycott. It was long on rhetoric, but suprisingly short on facts. Its sole supporting evidence for PayPal's iniquity was a hyperlink to the Second Amendment Sisters' website. I'm an associate member of the SAS; this definitely got my attention.

Why dont we boycott paypal?
I wanted to tell everyone rather advice everyone this more than two years ago as i had a bad feeling about it right from the start but now i think is the right time. Then times were different ...people perceived (maybe rightly so) as a great online payment system secure and backed by ebay. They were all very happy with paypal until recently Paypal has started showing its true color. Freezing accounts and assigning bogus or no reasons.... all sorts of limitations....plus its not being international..... has made me even wary of them......not only that there customer service is such that i wanted to kill myself once i had to contact them regarding some limitation in my account.

"We've come to expect interference with our Web-based services over the years, i.e., interruption of service at critical times, for example. However, last week, both the LPDC and the Boston support group received notification from PayPal (our Web site credit card verification and payment processing service) that we are in violation of its relatively new Acceptable Use Policy. Designating Leonard Peltier as being "notorious for committing murderous acts," PayPal has now deprived us of our online fundraising capability. Our accounts have been closed preventing us from receiving donations electronically and we have been told that our funds collected through the online service may be frozen for up to 180 days," reported the LPDC.

PayPal Fraud Warning - Virus Alert
When I tried to go to the www.paypal.com link it took me to "paypal victims us". I had received a previous email saying something about updating my email address, and then another one saying my contact email address had been changed. When I followed the links to verify (and report the fraudulent activity), the links went to deadends. I cannot find a phone number anywhere to contact Paypal to find out what is going on. I had only used Paypal once, in a transaction to buy something, and have no idea what is now going on with my account.

They have the Power, they Always Have Had, Now all they have to do is "USE IT!" Paypal is closing ptr sites accounts?
Just seems to me like this is gonna be an easy way out for some Program owners. It makes me wonder which ones have really had paypal problems, and which ones decided this would be an easy way for them to get out of paying the members who can't accept anything except paypal. This is almost enough to make me want to get out of PTR completely. I spend WAY too much time as it is reading PTR email--- to end up getting screwed out of my payment because I only use paypal. I wish this would make some webmasters see that Amazon GCs for payouts aren't such a bad idea.

I filed a claim for the 200.00 some bucks I had paid for the player under the money back gaurantee. There were a bunch of rules and timelines you had to follow, one slip and they could and would deny your claim, I had to send the player to them and all they would give is a PO Box number of course this is a nightmare with UPS. I made no slip ups. They took two months to "investigate" my claim.

Why I ONLY CAREFULLY accept Pay Pal!
It is unfortunate, but after being a well respected merchant of Pay Pal's for over 3 years, I now must severely RESTRICT this payment method. ABSOLUTELY NO INTERNATIONAL TRANSACTIONS USING PAY PAL..and US transactions CAN ONLY BE SHIPPED TO THE PAY PAL CONFIRMED ADDRESS!! I was forced into this decision by Pay Pal, as they allowed a fraudulent transaction to take place. This was an international transaction, where I shipped merchandise to a VERIFIED Pay Pal member, using TRACKABLE Express mail. Pay Pal not only let these people keep the merchandise I sent them, but ALSO gave them all their money back! So I was out my merchandise PLUS $2058! For a TOTAL LOSS of $4117! Pay Pal did not even allow me to present evidence to my case, or defend myself against this fraud.

Paypal is NOT a safe service. Over 4000 transactions are fraudulent every day. You pay $0.30 for a $1.00 transaction. Your money can be taken from your account without notice. Their customer service is horrible. They used to hide their telephone number, (intentionally - by their own admission) and only provided support via "form" emails. Their terms of service are not completely disclosed upon signup and some key "conditions" are not disclosed. Paypal's fees for NON-credit card funding are the same as for credit cards! This is the single biggest rippoff on their site. We understand Paypal charging a fee when you fund your account with a credit card. After all, they are being charged by Visa/Mastercard, etc. And we understand there is a lot of fraud with credit card funding. However, most of the money sent within the Paypal system no longer comes from credit card funding. However, money spent from PayPal account to PayPal account is subject to the exact same fees credit card purchases are! This money has been in the system for years and is "clean." That is, there are no fees at all to Paypal, and there is almost no fraud at all with this money, but Paypal charges the SAME fees to transactions with NON-credit card funds! Thus every transaction makes PayPal money, but it's nothing more than an entry in a computer database on their system. No money has actually moved, and there are no costs to Paypal. They are just skimming the gravy. Paypal displays INVALID trust logo. Any Information you provide on Paypal website will be available and will be used by scammers. Paypal is rip-off
